Where STEAM Education Meets Football
The 2024-2025 school year was marked by impact, innovation, and growth. As 49ERS EDU celebrated a major milestone, its 10-year anniversary, it also looked ahead with excitement to what’s next. With Levi’s Stadium® under construction in preparation for two of the world’s biggest events, 49ERS EDU embraced the opportunity to expand its reach and reimagine possibilities. While continuing to lead with its flagship program Home and Away, 49ERS EDU also introduced three new initiatives: Tackling Literacy, Next Up, and the 49ERS EDU Roadshow, each designed to deepen engagement and broaden impact across the Bay Area.

PROGRAMS

49ers EDU Home & Away
49ers EDU Home & Away program partnered with Bay Area schools to provide a 3-part series (asynchronous lesson, an in-person visit, and a virtual lesson) to deepen understanding of STEAM concepts and inspire our Bay Area youth to become the next generation of STEAM leaders.
In 2024, EDU reached 7,847 students across 100 schools in the Bay Area.

Follow Your Bliss Award
Presented by Micron
Named after sociologist, activist, and educator Dr. Harry Edwards, the Follow Your Bliss Award, presented by the Micron Foundation, awarded ten Bay Area teachers who have led with passion and purpose with a $2,000 grant to use for their school community to make their classrooms a more equitable and inclusive space.

Presented by Cisco Systems, Inc.
In 2024, 49ers EDU and Cisco hosted high school students to explore how data and analytics shape a gameday. Students heard from the 49ers Business Strategy and Analytics team and experienced the SAP Executive Huddle Suite, a first-of-its-kind live data hub at Levi’s® Stadium that drives real-time decisions to enhance the fan experience.

STEAM Champions
The 49ers EDU STEAM Champions Program recognized charitable partners of 49ers EDU's STEAM programming. This school year, AT&T, BlackRock, BNY Wealth, Cadence, Google, Micron Foundation, Microsoft, PG&E Foundation, PNC Bank and RBC Capital Markets, invested in work that advances key STEAM principles while volunteering to experience the magic firsthand, engage with students, support content delivery, and reinforce our shared commitment to Bay Area youth.

Foundation for Success
Presented by Intuit for Education
In March 2025, the 49ers Foundation hosted high school students at Levi’s® Stadium for a day of learning directly from industry leaders about educational and occupational pathways that they can pursue post-high school. This event reinforces the idea that no career path is linear and that each challenge and pivot leads you to the next opportunity. This year, students were also able to learn about financial literacy from presenting sponsor Intuit. Thank you to our supporting partners from PG&E Foundation, San Francisco Federal Credit Union, and Verizon.

Tackling Literacy
Since its launch in 2014, 49ers EDU had championed literacy through innovative programming, including a digital playbook and reading-focused lessons aligned with English Language Arts (ELA) state standards. In its milestone 10th anniversary year, the program took its literacy commitment to the next level. The initiative launched during Read Across America Week in early March with a flagship event that brought reading to life for students. In its first year, this effort reached 1,674 students across the Bay Area, leaving a lasting impact and igniting a passion for reading that will carry forward for years to come.

NextUp
The 49ers Foundation’s two direct-service programs teamed up to create a new program aimed to encourage and inspire girls to participate in both STEAM and Football. By creating an experience tailored towards middle school girls, this four-day mini camp encouraged girls to feel confident and equipped to participate in both STEAM and Flag Football. With the sanctioning of Girls’ Flag Football as a varsity sport and it becoming an Olympic sport, 49ers EDU and PREP continue to provide early exposure to the sport in hopes of building a pipeline to playing at the next level.

External Events
In celebration of EDU’s 10-year Anniversary, the team hit the road, going out to the community and bringing the magic of STEAM and football to all! During the offseason, EDU participated in different fairs and festivals throughout the Bay Area, where they conducted fun STEAM activities and shared all the different opportunities that fans have to engage with EDU. To kick off the roadshow, EDU’s first event saw over 1,400 parents and kids stop by to learn about the intersectionality of STEAM and football.

Legacy Beneficiaries
826 Valencia
In 2024, the 49ers Foundation proudly welcomed 826 Valencia as its newest legacy beneficiary partner and its first-ever based in San Francisco. Founded in 2002, 826 Valencia is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting under-resourced students ages 6-18 in developing their creative and expository writing skills, while also empowering teachers to inspire a love of writing in the classroom.
Through its Writing Centers in the Mission District, Tenderloin, and Mission Bay, 826 Valencia provides individualized writing instruction that helps students share their stories, advocate for their communities, and grow into future leaders. This partnership reflects the Foundation’s commitment to educational equity across the Bay Area.
City Year Bay Area
For 15 consecutive years, the 49ers Foundation has partnered with City Year San Jose/Silicon Valley and local AmeriCorps members to help ensure that more underserved students graduate from high school and college prepared for successful careers. City Year San Jose/Silicon Valley’s AmeriCorps Members serve as near-peer mentors, providing tutoring in English, Language Arts, and Math, supporting students’ social-emotional development, and encouraging positive attendance habits.
In 2024, the 49ers Foundation was recognized by City Year as the official Team Sponsor of the AmeriCorps team at Costaño Elementary School in the Ravenswood City School District in East Palo Alto, delivering direct services to uplift both the area and the students they serve.
STEM Leadership Institute
The 49ers STEM Leadership Institute (SLI) was founded in 2014 in partnership with Chevron, the Silicon Valley Education Foundation, and the Santa Clara Unified School District to provide educational opportunities for students interested in pursuing STEM-related careers. The program provides multi-year, year-round academic support, STEM enrichment, skills training, and leadership opportunities to 7th-12th-grade students in middle and high school.
Throughout the year, the 49ers Foundation and 49ers EDU partnered to align students and give them access through various touchpoints, such as the annual Foundation for Success and the 49ers Data Analytics program, putting their STEAM teaching to the test.
