Mentorship Academy

Presented by the William V. Campbell Family Foundation, Prime Meridian Group, and the Westly Foundation

The 49ers Foundation Mentorship Academy is a three-step program that is designed to provide traditional high school tackle and female flag football players with the opportunity to develop the skills necessary to succeed and be leaders on and off the field. Our partners at the Positive Coaching Alliance led a 45 minute session and a discussion with the 49ers 2024-2025 rookie class. The high school captains are then provided the platform to take what they learned from the 49ers and become mentors in their local community. After proof of a successful community focused initiative, athletes were then invited back for our final home game.

T.H.I.N.K. Gold!

Presented by SAP

The 49ers Foundation hosted its annual T.H.I.N.K. Gold Conference on May 31, 2024, at Levi’s® Stadium, bringing together nearly 70 female high school student-athletes for a day of empowerment and inspiration. Throughout the day, participants took part in a football skills session led by 49ers PREP coaches, engaged in a leadership panel featuring 49ers owners Jenna and Mara York alongside team executives, and joined a Q&A with Head Strength & Conditioning Coach Dustin Perry. They also gained insight into careers in sports, heard an inspiring talk from LB Curtis Robinson, and closed the experience with a yoga session focused on mental wellness.

High School Takeovers

Presented by U.S. Bank

49ers PREP, presented by U.S. Bank, recently hosted two High School Takeover events, spotlighting both Girls’ Flag Football and varsity tackle matchups. On September 27, the program took center stage at the Aptos vs. Hollister game, where 49ers alumnus Larry Grant served as honorary captain and fired up the players with a pregame speech. That night also celebrated standout athlete Mia Sanchez, recognized as the 49ers Flag Football nominee for the Hispanic Heritage Youth Award. PREP then brought the energy to the Liberty vs. Pittsburgh showdown, with 49ers alumnus Dennis Brown leading as honorary captain and fan-favorite Sourdough Sam rallying the crowd.

Skills Camps

Fueled by Gatorade

Over 90 high school student-athletes from across the Bay Area came to Levi’s® Stadium to partake in the fifth annual 49ers PREP Skills Camp, a full-day camp that offered multiple experiences for both entry- and elite-level rising 8th through 12th graders looking to fine-tune their game. On the field, participants competed against other Bay Area talent, and improved athletic skills through position-specific drills that were taught by 49ers alumni.

Anthem Team

Throughout the 2024-25 season, 49ers PREP invited 300 student-athletes to be part of the exclusive 49ers PREP Anthem Team. This unique experience offers a behind-the-scenes look at an NFL game day, giving students the incredible opportunity to interact with and high-five players during warm-ups. Each home game, as the players took the field, the Anthem Team proudly stood in front of the team for the National Anthem.

Nike 11-ON

49ers PREP, presented by U.S. Bank, teamed up with Nike to host the third annual Nike 11-On. The one-day event featured a 7-on-7 tournament with eight local Bay Area high schools: Berean Christian, Liberty, Silver Creek, American Canyon, Sacred Heart Cathedral, Pittsburg, Berkeley, St Patrick St Vincent, and Deer Valley. The day allowed participants to work on team chemistry ahead of their high school football season.

In the 2024 season, PREP donated a total of $30,000 to local Bay Area high school football programs, recognizing 40 tackle and flag football players and coaches.

Legacy Beneficiaries

AAFE

African American Female Excellence (AAFE), the nation’s first district-wide initiative for young Black women, serves over 300 students in Oakland from elementary through high school. Led by Oakland Unified’s Office of Equity, the program offers daily Black girl-centered classes, weekly groups, and citywide events that are transforming how public education serves Black students. In 2023, the 49ers Foundation partnered with AAFE as its first Oakland-based beneficiary, helping expand access to career development, college readiness, and mentorship. This holistic approach strengthens academic outcomes and empowers students to thrive personally and professionally, advancing equity and excellence for Black girls in Oakland.

Fresh Lifelines for Youth

The 49ers Foundation has proudly partnered with Fresh Lifelines for Youth (FLY) since 2000, supporting its mission to break the pipeline to prison and create brighter futures. FLY works with youth impacted by the justice system through mentorship, legal education, and leadership development, empowering them to grow and drive change in their communities.

In 2024, 49ers PREP, presented by U.S. Bank, joined FLY at Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall for a day of inspiration and support. FLY staff and 49ers players Isaac Yiadom, Maliek Collins, Curtis Robinson, Drake Nugent, Patrick Taylor, and Spencer Burford led a discussion on managing frustration before running football drills with 40 youth, showcasing exercise as a tool for well-being. Owners Jenna and Mara York and 49ers Foundation Board members were on hand to make the day unforgettable.
